CROSSEU is a Horizon Europe project geared to respond to the increasing societal needs to reduce climate-damaging actions, adapt to the expected consequences and increase socio-economic resilience. The project aims are to deliver a climate-sensitive framework, including a ready-to-use decision support system platform and technical recommendations, to inform investment decisions, cost-effective adaptation and mitigation options and policy response to climate change. CROSSEU will contribute to understanding the socioeconomic risks and response options associated with climate change impact in Europe in different timeframes, including the post-COVID-19 societal- environmental transformation, and derive practical recommendations for political and societal action.

The solutions proposed are based on an extensive assessment of the socio-economic risks of climate change in a cross-sectoral hierarchical approach, based on storylines addressing key categories of climate hazards in different socio-economic sectors and climate change-sensitive areas across countries and European regions. The consortium is coordinated by Administratia Nationala de Meteorologie (MeteoRo), and formed by 15 partners from eight countries, including an international organization (World Meteorological Organization).

K&I will contribute to all WPs with a special responsibility, within WP4, in the analysis of the policies of Mitigation and Adaptation at the European level and within the European countries, aimed at identifying synergies between Mitigation & Adaptation measures, and bottlenecks and barriers in decision, implementation and monitoring process. Moreover, K&I will study the social effects of these policies with a focus on issues related to social justice, gender in an intersectional perspective, social cohesion and social exclusion); and on how policies can increase the capacity of different groups to adapt to climate risks.
